Jay! It seems to me that freedom and economic prosperity had made Koreans so proud of themselves with a haughty spirit. It is not an old story that Koreans have become so arrogant and even cruel to other Asian peoples, including their own people living in China and any other countries. The main reason why they became so arrogant in such a short period might be they were so poor in the past. As you know, once the poor suddenly became rich, he wants to swagger about his possession and wealth to show off to others. In fact, they have put money before any other things, even family, home, nation, even God.

제이! 내가 보기엔 자유와 경제적 번영이 한국인들로 하여금 오만한 마음을 가질 정도로 그렇게 잘난체하게 만들었습니다. 한국인들이 아주 거만하게 되었고 심지어 다른 아시아인들이나 중국동포 등에는 잔혹하기조차 한 것은 오래 전 얘기가 아닙니다.

Consequently, morality has lost its hold on the Koreans, patriotism has gone, and selfishness has flourished everywhere in the society. They ignored what the Bible said in 1 Timothy 6, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
