노무현이 김정일과 손잡고 아무리 나라를 잡아끌어 내려도, 남한의 철부지들이 촛불시위로 아무리 난리를 떨어도, 나는 먼 훗날 우리나라가 다시 살아날 것을 의심하지 않습니다.

수천년 매일 배가 고프고 난리가 계속되서, 아침인사가 아침 잡수셨냐고 물어볼 정도로, 간밤에 별고 없으셨냐고 물어볼 정도로, 고생한 우리 민족이 그래도 씨가 마르지 않고 아직까지는 살아 남았습니다.

김정일과 김대중 노무현 때문에 또 몇 백만이 죽을지 모르겠으나, 우리 민족이 언젠가는 불사조처럼 다시 살아날 것입니다. 이것은 그냥 희망 사항이 아닙니다. 요즈음 제가 매일 들러보는 한국계 미국 2세들의 LiNK 사이트를 보면 요즈음 매일 죽을 맛이다가도 살맛이 또 생깁니다.

링크 소식을 전합니다. 링크는 북한 자유의 날 바로 전에 생긴 단체로 50개가 넘는 미국 대학교에서 한국계 미국학생들이 조직한, 북한을 해방시키겠다는 대단한 조직입니다.

우선 간단한 보고 사항들 - 자세한 소식은 또 나중에

1) 잠정 링크(북한 땅에 자유를!) 미국 하기 정상 모임 - 6월 20일에서 6월 22일까지 아름다운 샌 디에고에서 모입니다 (사실은 내가 여러분에게 모임 장소를 마련해줄 수 있고, 숙박할 곳을 제공할 수 있기 때문에 이곳에서 모입니다)

모든 분들에게 공개되어 있는 모임이지만, 다시 말씀드리고 또 말씀 드리지만, 링크 연락원들은 꼭 참석해주세요. 이번 모임에서는 결정해야 할 일들이 많고, 내년 그리고 그 후에 할 일들을 의논할 것이고, 우리 조직도 확실히 만들고, 할 일들이 산적해있지만, 캘리포니아 산 맛있는 버리토를 먹으면서 우리 서로 얼굴도 익히고 그래야지요. 이번 정상 모임에 오실 수 있으면, 다음 이-메일 주소로 연락해 주세요. 고맙습니다.

Hello Link Crew-

A few brief updates, with elaboration to come:

1) Tentative Date set for LiNK USA Summer Summit
June 20-22, in bootyful San Diego [mostly because I can provide places for us to meet, housing, etc]
Open to all LiNK members, and strongly, strongly encouraged for all LiNK coordinators. We will be setting lots of things in stone, setting LiNK's agenda for the next year and onwards, and solidying our organizational structure, among many other things, including just getting to know each other over beautiful, delicious California burritos.
If you can make the summit, please please confirm at kascon@yale.edu asap. Thanks.

2) LiNK Chapter Organizing Kit
We are working on a LiNK Chapter Organizing Kit to distribute to all existing and future chapters, complete with information on financial details, organizational structure, mission statement, objectives, programs, bylaws, media, and other information. This will serve as a very important resource for all LiNK chapters to use- if you have published ANY literature regarding LiNK- handouts, flyers, donation request letters, etc, please email them to me so we can include them as examples in the kit.

3) North Korea Human Rights Textbook
The Citizen's Alliance in Seoul and LiNK will be working on completing a huge textbook with all possible information, details and guidance on issues of North Korean Human Rights. We will be needing lots of help from LiNK at large- please stay tuned. It will include background information on social, cultural, political and economic issues surrounding the North, as well as practical ways to bring change to the area. This will also be distributed when completed to all LiNK chapters, and to all other NK-related organizations.

4) LiNK Summit in Seoul (and maybe China)
Still in the works- tentatively set for the first and second weeks of August, but still very much in the works. We will update information as we have it.

5) T-shirts, pins, etc
All being ordered now. By the way, LiNK's working address for the summer will be:

If you have collected donations so far, please forward them to that address- we need funds to pay for shirts, chapter kits, and our web servers.
