<국민의 함성>이 10월 13일 구국을 목적으로 출범했습니다. 나라를 구하기 위하여 죽을 각오로 일하자는데 꼬리를 뺄 수가 없었습니다. 자격도 없으면서 능력도 없으면서 <국민의 함성>에 동참하기로 했습니다. 충무공과 사육신이 하신 일의 만분지 일만 하더라도 여한이 없겠습니다. 미국에서 10월 13일 워싱턴 정가와 인권운동가들, 언론에 <국민의 함성> 목표, 강령들을 전하면서, 제가 쓴 편지입니다. 지금 노무현을 탄핵하지 못하면, 나라의 앞날이 없습니다. 송두율을 족쳐서 남한의 친김정일 세력을 제거하지 못하면 우리의 앞날이 캄캄합니다. 남신우 드림

경애하는 동지 여러분!

저는 지난 2년 반동안 북한 인권문제에 관한 일을 해왔습니다. 일하면서 훌륭한 분들도 만났습니다. 우리는 작년, 그리고 지난 달에 선양과 북경에서 탈북자 6명을 일본, 한국공관을 통하여 구하기도 했습니다. 그것은 제 생전 딴 어떤 일보다도 보람있는 일이었습니다. 저는 앞으로도 계속 탈북자 구하는 일을 할 것입니다.

그런데 북한의 김정일이 살아있고 정권을 거머쥐고 있는 한, 탈북자 문제는 근본적으로 해결할 수 없다는 것을 알았습니다. 김정일은 이 전무후무한 민족비극의 원인입니다. 그리고 본인은 김정일만큼이나 남한의 전 대통령 김대중에게도 이 민족비극의 책임이 있다는 사실을 알았습니다. 김대중은 지난 5년간 햇볕정책이란 사기극으로 북한동포들을 도운 것이 아니라, 김정일을 도왔습니다. 김대중은 김정일이 사람들 죽이는 것도 잘 알고 있었습니다. 그 자는 북한동포들을 돕는다면서, 그들을 살육하는 김정일을 도왔습니다. 김대중은 평생 공산주의자였습니다. 대통령 임기를 마추면서, 김대중은 자신의 늙은 목숨을 유지하기 위해서 노무현을 후계자로 선택한 뒤, 갖은 협잡과 농간으로 노무현을 대통령으로 만들었습니다. 노무현은 김대중의 햇볕정책을 승계하겠다며, 대통령이 된 다음 계속 김정일을 돕고 있습니다. 이제까지 하는 짓을 보니 노무현은 김대중보다도 더 간사하고 파괴적입니다. 그 자는 빨갱이들을 정부요직이 앉히고 북핵위기에서도 계속 우방 미국의 뒤통수를 치고 있습니다. 노무현은 사깃꾼이자 역적입니다. 노무현이 대한민국을 김정일에게 바치기 전에 이 자를 당장 탄핵으로 끌어내려야 합니다.

그래서 저는 남한 현정권과 싸우겠다는 일단의 애국동지들 모임에 동참하기로 했습니다. 이 분들은 거의가 다 예비역 군장교들로서 나라를 위해서는 목숨도 바치겠다는 분들입니다. 이 모임을 만든 사람은 지만원 박사란 분으로서 육군사관학교를 나왔고, 미국 해군대학원에서 시스템 공학박사 학위를 받았고, 대령으로 예편한 뒤, 컨설팅 사업을 하다가, 나라의 위기를 통감하고 그 후에는 자신의 사업도 팽개치고 김대중-노무현과 죽기살기로 싸워온 분입니다. 그는 최근 <국민의 함성>이란 조직을 만들었고, 공동대표 7인으로 출범했는데, 저도 공동대표중 1인으로 이 조직에 참여합니다. 국민의 함성의 강령이나 목적은 참조 서류에 모두 적혀 있습니다.

저는 정치가가 아닙니다. 정치인이 될 생각도 없습니다. 저는 평생 건축가로 일해왔습니다. 그러나 대한민국은 지금 북한의 김정일과 싸우고 남한의 내적, 김대중-노무현과 싸우는데, 우방 미국의 도움이 절실하게 필요합니다. 국민의 함성이 단 20명, 20명, 아니 100명의 국회의원을 내년 총선에서 국회로 보낼 수 있으면 우리는 이 반역도들과 싸워서 이기고 나라를 구할 가능성이 보입니다. 그러나 내년 총선에서 국회까지도 반역도들에게 넘어가면, 우리나라는 끝장입니다. 남한은 우리가 알아오던 그런 나라가 아닐 것입니다. 그리고 북한에서만이 아니라 남한에서도 난민들이 쏟아져 나올 수도 있습니다. 월남에서 일어났던 일들을 기억하십니까? 남한은 지금 월남같이 되어가고 있습니다. 남한이 지금 망하면 다시는 민주국가로 설 수가 없을 것입니다. 지금 남한을 구해야 합니다.

저는 1980년대 초에 에이브러햄 링컨을 만났습니다. 링컨은 그 후 저의 선생님이었습니다. 저는 링컨 전기를 두 번 한국말로 번역해서 출판했습니다. 그리고 저더러 탈북자들을 구하라고 말해준 사람도 링컨입니다. 링컨은 1862년 12월 1일 연방국회에 보낸 메시지에서 이렇게 말했습니다. "국민 여러분, 우리는 역사를 피할래야 피할 수 없습니다...우리가 지금 치루고 있는 이 지독한 시련으로 우리는 후세 사람들에게 영광 스럽던지, 불명예스럽게 보일 것입니다...우리는 나라를 어떻게 구할 수 있는 지 잘 알고 있습니다...온 세상은 우리가 나라를 어떻게 하면 구할 수 있는 지 알고 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다...우리가 노예들에게 자유를 찾아주고자 함은 자유인들의 자유를 확고히 하자는 것입니다...우리가 그들에게 자유를 찾아주고 우리의 자유를 지키는 것은 명예로운 일이며, 우리가 어떻게 하느냐에 따라서 우리는 지구상 마지막 희망인 우리나라들 영예롭게 지킬 수도 있으면, 아니면 불명예스럽게 잃어버릴 수도 있습니다..."

우리들이 탈북난민을 구하면, 우리는 남북한 한국을 구할 수 있습니다. 우리들이 한국을 구하면, 우리는 세계를 구하는 것입니다.

Dear Friends:

I have worked on the human rights issue of North Korea for the past two and a half years. I met some good people along the way. We have saved half a dozen refugees through Japanese and Korean consulates in Shenyang and Beijing, respectively, last year and again last month. It was an unbelievably rewarding experience. I will continue to work with my friends to save the refugees.

However, I realized that there would be no end to the refugee problem as long as Kim Jong-il is alive and in power in North Korea. He is at the root of this unprecedented tragedy. I then realized that the former South Korean President, Kim Dae-jung was as much responsible because he helped and saved Kim Jong-il with his so-called Sunshine Policy for the past five years. Kim Dae-jung knew all along what Kim Jong-il was doing in North Korea. He spoke about helping the people in North Korea, but in truth he helped Kim Jong-il kill his own people. Kim Dae-jung was a communist all his life. Kim Dae-jung, in order to save his neck after his term expires, schemed and conspired to steal the presidential election for the current successor, Roh Moo-hyun. Roh was elected as the president of South Korea last year. Roh pledged he would continue Kim’s Sunshine Policy and would support Kim Jong-il exactly the way DJ Kim did. Roh is turning out to be more cunning and more destructive. He encircled himself with pro-Kim Jong-il traitors, and continues to double-cross the U.S. in the current nuclear crisis. Roh is a crook and a traitor. Roh has to be impeached as soon as possible, before he turns South Korea over to Kim Jong-il.

I decided to join a group of South Korean patriots to fight the current South Korean government of Roh Moo-hyun. They are mostly ex-military officers, who pledged to fight and die for the country. The leader of this group is Dr. Jee Man-won, who graduated from the Military Academy, studied in the U.S., and received his Ph.D. in system engineering from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School in California. He retired as a colonel, and worked as a consultant. Then there came DJ Kim and the traitors. He gave up his own successful consulting business, and has fought against Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun in the past six years like a mad prophet. He formed this conservative political activist group called “The Voice of the People.” There are seven co-representatives, and I am one of them. The objectives and declaration of the Voice of the People are attached to this e-mail.

I am not a politician, and have no intention to become one. I am an architect. However, South Korea needs help from the Americans to fight Kim Jong-il in North Korea, and against the enemies in South Korea like Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun. If we can help elect twenty, fifty, or hundred patriotic politicians to the National Assembly in the upcoming General Election, we have a chance to fight the traitors and save the country. If the National Assembly goes over to the other side, all will be lost. South Korea will be no more the way we used to know her. There will be mass exodus not just from North Korea, but from South Korea as well. Remember what happened to South Vietnam? South Korea is in a mortal danger. She could perish and never recover as a democratic nation. We have to act now.

I met Abraham Lincoln in the early 1980’s. He has been my guide since. I translated two of Lincoln books into Korean. It was Lincoln who told me to go and save the refugees. He said on December 1, 1862 in his message to Congress, “Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history…The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation…We know how to save the Union. The world knows we do know how to save it…In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom to the free &#8211; honorable alike in what we give, and what we preserve. We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best, hope of earth…”

When we help save the refugees, we will be saving Korea, both North and South. When we help save Korea, we will be saving the world.
